Gordon on the cover of Music Maker Magazine

Mike and I have both loved Gordon's music for many years and recently have come to know him as a good friend, so this part of our website is dedicated to him.

It is with the greatest pleasure that I am able to announce that I am the booking agent for the duo Double Vision and also for Gordon solo in Scotland and Ireland.

Gordon and Raymond Burley have joined forces in this exciting new partnership which will allow both artists to expand and continue to bring new dimensions to their performance.

By combining the sounds of steel and nylon string guitars, with Raymond's arrangements of Gordon's compositions, the results are more than the sum of the parts.

Gordon is delighted to announce the release of a new 15 track studio CD called Secret Valentine. This CD was recorded entirely on the revolutionary new Cool Acoustics / Rob Armstrong Secret Valentine hybrid acoustic guitar. The album is recorded as an enhanced audio CD that includes a video interview with Gordon and the creators of the guitar.

New CD released Oct 2007

The release of 'As It Happens...' proves that even after 40 years in the music business Gordon can still deliver something different. For the first time ever you can purchase a complete, unedited Giltrap show in its entirety - all the chat, all the music, the works. It is the next best thing to having Gordon perform live in your living room!

This double CD release on the fledgling Panacy record label clearly demonstrates Gordon's gift for composing by drawing on a wide range of influences. Listen closely and you’ll hear the rock guitar of Hank Marvin and Pete Townshend, the folk guitar of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, and the classical guitar of Julian Bream and John Williams happily mixing with Celtic and other influences.

The set is typical of his recent stage shows, featuring a cross section of favourites played on Gordon's usual varied array of guitars, with the finale being a demonstration of the electric one-man-band version of 'The Dodo’s Dream'

Update18th May:

Since the success of the new web site for Gordon, I have decided to offer my services constructing similar sites for other musicians or small businesses, and already have several new projects in the pipeline. If you are interested in getting your own site, or need an old one updating, please get in touch. My fees are very reasonable!

New Website launched 27th March 2007

For the past few months I have been busy working away to build a brand new website for Gordon. This has now gone live and I'm delighted to say is being well received by his fans, especially regular users of the old site.

I've tried to build on all the best features from the old site, but at the same time, add new things and more detail. Old pages and features will be archived on the site, rather than replaced, so as time goes on it will become an even more extensive database of all things Giltrap.

There is a brand new discussion group too, which I know some people will find very different at first from the old one, but having tried it, I'm sure they will appreciate all the extra functionality.
I've tried to reduce the effect of spammers on the board as much as possible, but initially there is bound to be a certain amount of trial and error involved in getting everything set up to work smoothly, so please bear with me if you encounter any minor problems !

The site is still at www.giltrap.co.uk although addresses for individual pages will be different from those previously. This means you may have to re-do your bookmarks.

Due to concentrating my efforts on the official site, it does however mean that this part of my site will not be updated as often as it used to be. All new info on Gordon will go there.

Hope you like it !

NEW PAGE Added 6th DEC 2006

On Sat 2nd Dec 2006 Gordon was interviewed for Radio Kent by Paul Harris and Paul James to promote the lastest cd release "Captured From a Point in Time". Click the Radio Interview button on your left to read a transcript of the interview

It was 40 years ago today..........

The day in question is 29th November, and I was telling Gordon about a very talented up and coming young guitarist called Gareth Pearson. Mike and I saw Gareth last night, supporting the great Tommy Emmanuel on his current UK tour. It turns out that Gordon met Gareth's Dad, Graham some time ago and had heard about Gareth. Gordon said:

Yes, at 18 he sounds REMARKABLE and I have heard of his stunning ability.

Glad the gig was good and that The Master was as ever in good form. Did you say 'hi' to him for me?

It's funny about that particular age among us guitarists. I had written Fast Approaching by then and all the material on my first album, and had secured ( all by myself ) a recording contract. In fact it is EXACTLY 40 years ago today that I received the letter from Nat Joseph offering me the deal. How do I know this? Because (and this will make you smile) I bought a GG Special Collection Book on E-bay and that letter is in there.

Do you have this book Sue? It's SO weird that on this very day 40 years ago this fresh faced pretty boy mod was embarking on a career that would still be here all these years on! I'm very grateful and lucky.

You wonder what Gareth will be like in a few years, hopefully he will, like me have slowed down a bit and written something that has meaning to it. I'm sure he has already, I wish him well."

NEW Gordon Giltrap CD released 27th Nov 2006

"Captured From A Point In Time" is the latest addition to the extensive catalogue of recordings by Gordon. It "captures" live tracks from concerts recorded in various locations around the UK, including a bonus track of the stunning "The Dodo's Dream" on electric guitar which audiences have been waiting to get hold of.

There is an eight page booklet, with sleeve notes by Gordon,
which I'm delighted to say, uses my photographs.

The cd is released by Hypertension records : HYP 6251

"As sweet as acoustic guitar instrumentals get"
Tim Jones - Record Collector Feb 2007

"Gordon's lyrical touch is as forthright and stunning as ever .... every offering here demonstrates the touch of a master"
Simon Bradley - Guitarist Feb 2007

NEW PAGES Added 23rd OCT 2006

Gordon has just undertaken a short tour of Village Halls in Kent as part of the Applause Rural Touring Scheme. As usual these concerts were a great success, with enthusiastic audiences delighted to have an artist of Gordon's calibre playing so close to home.

Mike and I, ( complete with camera naturally )  attended three of the concerts : Addington, Brenchley and Hadlow. To see the latest photos please click the Rural Tour 2006 button.

Also, several people on Gordon's forum have recently asked about the equipment he uses on stage, so especially for you, I have taken some close-up shots of his guitars, including the new Fylde and loop station etc.

Click the Guitars and More button to have a look.

 Enjoy !
